| Planning Operations and technical progression application of RFID in the global |
|
| |
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, according to the report of ABI, the global RFID market in 2007 reached USD 3.87 billion USD dollars and is projected to reach 8.49 billion USD dollars in 2012, the year compound growth rate is estimated 17%, more than other auto-identification technology substantially.Since the requirements from Wal-Mart in 2005 and Sam's club in 2009, the development of the RFID-related technology has been driven in the global.
The RFID is used through stick the RFID Tag in the process control point of the product, cargo box or physical objects, than the Reader will read the data from the Tag and deliver the identification code back, finally operations the technology that can’t be achieved in the past like good tracking, management and steals prevention, bring the huge convenience and benefits to the global logistics business processes, than the acquisition and dissemination of logistics information more accurate, complete and convenient.
Hong Kong Article Numbering Association (HKANA, or GS1 Hong Kong) and Transportation & Logistics Services Industry Action Group (TLS IAG), subsidiary of the GS1 EPC global subsidiary bodies under the Transport and Logistics Industry Action Group (TLS IAG), after three phases forerunner test, there were a “global logistics and spot scene test of RFID/EPC” and workshop at the Hong Kong Science Park on February 26 and 27.
The "RFID / EPC Global Logistics field testing" is divided into five different scenarios, the following is the introduction of the five scenarios and field demonstration: |
|
| |
 |
Case 1: |
|
| |
The main test scenarios is the demonstration of the global logistics business model, the situation of the EPC standard RFID tags be read in different frequency logistics points, and simulate the using of RFID tags, RFID fixed readers and handheld readers of the control points in the supply chain. This shows three different frequencies from Hong Kong, the United States and Europe, by read the RFID tag one is stuck to the pallet and 29 are stuck to the carton to simulate the current operating mode of supply chain globalization. |

 |
Case 2: |
|
| |
The main demonstration project is through the visible reading mark to show the field and scope of invisible radio waves by the antenna and the tag attached to cartons of the fixed RFID reader.
The staff carrying cartons with RFID then let the manufacturers can understood the read range of RFID reader on the ground through the reader.

Case 3: |
|
| |
The reading situation of the tags of CAT (Conveyance Asset Tag) that attached on the container and how ensure the operational security of the container in the in the global logistics by use of electronic seals. |

Case 4: |
|
| |
Showing another RFID tags XCAT (Extended Conveyance Asset Tag) use in the container transportation and divided into two bands 433MHz and 2.4GHz, the active RFID tag with the RFID reader can make the operation of the container transport reach at least 25 meters above and these two bands can also be demand for global logistics band. |

Case 5: |
|
| |
There are two situations that one is through the RFID tags attached to pallets, then record the data of RFID tag of container when the pallet is when the container loading, the other is using the battery with passive RFID tag to display the recording model that combines the temperature and pressure sensor of RFID tags, and open the door of a container in security or the temperature changed, warning issued from the system through the information transmission through the RF, simulate the operation in the case of global logistics container security. |
